Choreographer of “Flux”
Junior in U of M’s Dance Department
Q: Why did you choose to study dance?
A: I’ve wanted to be a professional dancer since I was little.
Q: What about choreography interests you?
A: The idea of making something out of nothing is intriguing to me. The process is never ending
and offers limitless options and possibilities for play.
Q: What was your inspiration for your FTC piece?
A: I was inspired after watching a Batsheva trailer online. Additionally, the song Caterpillar by
James Holden prompted my choreography. Overall, the piece is based on physical movement.
Q: In general, where do you draw your inspiration from?
A: Mostly from improvising. Catchy songs to improve to and Gaga class/sensations are very
informative to my choreographic process.
Q: How does your past choreography compare with the choreography you set on FTC?
A: Working with FTC was my first group project experience.
Q: What was it like working with the freshman?
A: It was good to work with the freshman. They are receptive and strong dancers, but it was a
challenge because it was my first time setting a piece on others and seeing my own movement translates onto others.
Q: What are your favorite foods?
A: Chocolate, pad thai, mangos, blueberries, and lasagna.
